Annual Sleigh Ride

The annual sleigh ride at the Dyment Recreation Hall has always been a cherished tradition, especially for the younger members of the community. Many of us remember bundling up in warm coats, scarves, and mittens, cheeks rosy from the crisp winter air, and gathering eagerly for the excitement of the ride. The horses, adorned with jingling bells, carried families across snowy trails, filling the air with laughter, the sound of hooves on packed snow, and the unmistakable magic of winter. It was a moment where the whole community came together, sharing stories, hot chocolate, and the simple joy of being outside in the heart of winter.

Looking back on those special New Year’s sleigh ride, it’s easy to see why it became such a beloved event. Children’s eyes sparkled with delight as the sleigh glided through the sparkling landscape, and parents savoured the chance to watch memories being made right before their eyes. Even as the years passed and the kids grow older, the warmth, laughter, and sense of togetherness from those rides remain a treasured part of our community’s story, a gentle reminder of the simple joys that bring everyone closer during the holiday season.
