Take part in the land-use and diet survey before September 7 and help document how the area is used today.
With just one week remaining, residents and land users are encouraged to participate in a survey that will help inform land-use and diet studies connected to the proposed Deep Geological Repository for Canada’s Used Nuclear Fuel Project.
The Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO) is gathering information from people who know and use the project area. The survey looks at how people interact with local lands, waterways and natural resources, including food consumption, harvesting, hunting, fishing, recreation, gathering and other activities.
For people in Melgund Township, taking part is especially important. The township is one of the two communities closest to the proposed DGR program and is expected to experience significant impacts. Local knowledge can help ensure that environmental and regulatory studies reflect the ways the area is actually used today.
There is only one week left to complete the survey, which closes September 7, 2026.
Residents, land users and others with knowledge of the area are encouraged to take the time to participate. A broader and more accurate record of local land use and food consumption can help inform the environmental studies, federal regulatory review and future decisions about the project.
