New concrete pads will improve accessibility at the Melgund complex and support community recreation, events and programming. Thanks to the NWMO and the Ontario Trillium Foundation Capital Grants program for making these infrastructure improvements possible. Photo: Karen Daignault
Local volunteers and community organizations are working together to improve access and support more activities at the complex.
There was plenty happening at the Melgund recreation complex this weekend as local volunteers got to work preparing for the installation of new concrete pads. Pete and Pat spent time digging and levelling the ground around the wheelchair ramps and terrace entrances, helping get everything ready for the next stage of the project.
These improvements are about making the complex safer and easier to access, so more people can comfortably take part in the activities, programs and community events held here. Better access means more opportunities for people to come together and make use of the space.
This project is supported by the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s Capital Grants Program and the Nuclear Waste Management Organization. We appreciate their investment in our community and everyone who continues to put in the time and effort to keep local spaces useful, welcoming and ready for the future.
