Speak Up: Your Voice Matters on the Proposed Nuclear Waste Burial
The landscape of Northwestern Ontario is at a crossroads, and your input is needed now more than ever. We The Nuclear Free North is hosting a critical public workshop to discuss the proposed burial of nuclear waste near Dyment and the Revell site.
As the federal review process for the proposed Deep Geological Repository (DGR) for nuclear waste moves forward, this is a vital opportunity for residents of Melgund Township, Dyment, Borups Corners, and surrounding areas to get informed and take action.

- Date: Saturday, April 25
- Time: 11:00 am to 3:00 pm
- Location: Dyment Hall (13 Melgund 3A Road)

Why Attend?
The current Impact Assessment comment period is a narrow window for the public to voice concerns. This workshop is designed to help you navigate the process effectively. Attendees will:
- Learn the Process: Understand the federal Impact Assessment steps and what they mean for our region.
- Get Guidance: Find out exactly how to submit your comments before the May 10 deadline.
- Brainstorm Topics: Discuss key issues—from environmental safety and water protection to the risks of radioactive waste transportation—to include in your submission.
Take Action Before May 10
The federal government is currently seeking feedback on the draft guidelines that will dictate what the Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO) must study. This is the time to ensure that the risks to our land, water, and future generations are not overlooked.
“This is one of the most important parts for people to be involved in. The scope of the entire assessment is being set right now.”
